About Backprakt
The philosophy of Backprakt is to combine the best evidenced techniques with sound diagnosis and to treat the patient holistically to maximise the clinical therapeutic effect and with the minimum reliance on ethical pharmaceuticals.
Dr Logan studied as an undergraduate at the University of St Andrews, the ancient University of Scotland. He followed his research interests in neurophysiology as a staff member in the Medical Faculty at NUI Galway, Ireland.

The primary school pupil
A schoolchild became unwell and was hospitalised for a serious medical condition. The child appeared to respond to the treatment but complained of having back pains. After considerable time the primary condition had improved but the child still complained of back pain that resulted in long absences from school. The child was brought to the Lytham Clinic for a full functional assessment.
At presentation, the child was listless and in obvious pain. On examination the spine was found to be fixed throughout its length from pelvis to cranium. Using soft tissue techniques and gentle mobilisation, the fixations were released. The child immediately responded and was able to return to school. This was hardly a placebo effect.
The Octogenarian
Another example was the case of the octogenarian woman, who was advised by her GP that her “back had gone” and prescribed strong pain killers. A close family friend brought the woman to the Lytham Clinic. On initial assessment, the patients was stooped over; walked with great difficulty and in severe pain. On examination, the vertebral column was found to be rotated and fixed.
After 4 one hour treatments given over a week-end, she was able to return home walking pain free, upright and with no other difficulties. She was still pain free and fully mobile 9 months later. She continues to have treatments regularly to maintain her flexibility and mobility.
Both of these case studies show that back pain can happen at any age. Maintaining spinal flexibility is essential for a good quality of life regardless of age..
